New Hilton card bonuses: Earn up to 150,000 points plus a free night

11 May 2023

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers.

From low-budget to ultra-luxury, there’s a Hilton property for everyone. The global Hilton portfolio includes almost 20 brands and over 7,000 hotels.

When it comes to cobranded credit cards, American Express offers Hilton travelers a variety of choices in that arena, too. There are four Amex Hilton credit cards, each offering a solid welcome offer for new cardholders and an array of perks to make your next stay more rewarding and enjoyable.

Two of these cards are offering solid bonuses without a high spending requirement, so snagging these offers now could be very valuable.

Let’s take a closer look at the current bonuses on these Hilton credit cards, with offers ending July 19.

Current welcome offer

Earn 130,000 Hilton Honors bonus points and one free night reward after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first three months of cardmembership. Offer ends July 19.

TPG values Hilton points at 0.6 cents each, making 130,000 points worth $780. That’s over 8 times the card’s $95 annual fee (see rates and fees).

The highest offer we’ve seen in the past is 180,000 bonus points, but you had to spend $10,000 to receive that bonus. The fact that the current bonus is one-fifth of that amount and also includes a free night reward makes now a fantastic time to apply for the card.

Additional benefits

The current welcome offer is just one reason to add the Surpass to your wallet. With the card, you’ll also earn 12 points per dollar at Hilton Honors properties, 6 points per dollar at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. restaurants and U.S. gas stations and 3 points per dollar on other purchases. Terms apply.

The card comes with some nice perks, including 10 Priority Pass lounge access passes each year (enrollment is required), a free night reward after you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases each calendar year, complimentary Hilton Gold elite status and a path to Hilton Diamond status through spending: $40,000 of eligible purchases in a calendar year.

Current welcome offer

Earn 150,000 Hilton Honors bonus points and a free night award after you spend $4,000 on purchases on the card in the first three months of cardmembership. Offer ends July 19.

These points are worth $900, based on TPG’s valuations — quite good value for a card with a $95 annual fee (see rates and fees).

The best offer we’ve seen on this card provided 180,000 points after $10,000 of spending. The current bonus requires half the amount of spending for almost as many points — plus a free night award — so now is a great time to apply.

Additional benefits

With this card, you’ll also earn 12 points per dollar at Hilton Honors hotels and resorts, 6 points per dollar on select business and travel purchases and 3 points per dollar on all other eligible purchases. Terms apply.

The card has some solid benefits as well, including 10 Priority Pass visits per year (enrollment is required), a free night reward after you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases in a calendar year (plus the ability to earn a second certificate by spending $60,000 total on eligible purchases in a calendar year), complimentary Hilton Gold elite status and  the same spending-based pathway to earning Hilton Diamond status.

THE POINTS GUY

Current welcome offer

Earn 70,000 Hilton Honors bonus points and a free night award after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first three months of cardmembership. Offer ends July 19.

The regular Hilton Amex card has no annual fee (see rates and fees), so, unsurprisingly, you’ll earn fewer points with this welcome bonus. However, those 70,000 points are still worth $420, per TPG valuations — a decent offer for a card with no annual fee.

This offer matches a previous best-ever offer and meets our threshold for when you should apply for this card.

Additional benefits

With this card, you’ll earn 7 points per dollar spent directly with a hotel or resort within the Hilton portfolio, 5 points per dollar spent on eligible purchases on dining at U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets and U.S. gas stations and 3 points per dollar on all other eligible purchases. Terms apply.

This entry-level card also offers automatic Hilton Honors Silver status (with an upgrade to Gold when you spend $20,000 on eligible purchases in a calendar year) and no foreign transaction fees (see rates and fees) — also a rarity for a card with no annual fee. Enrollment is required for select benefits.

Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card

AMERICAN EXPRESS

Current welcome offer

Earn 150,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases on the card within your first three months of cardmembership.

These 150,000 points are worth $900 according to TPG’s valuations — though the Aspire Card does come with a $450 annual fee (see rates and fees).

The current offer is the standard offer on this card.

Additional benefits

The Hilton Aspire Card is the premium Hilton Amex card, loaded with perks. You’ll enjoy automatic Hilton Honors Diamond status, which includes complimentary breakfast (or a daily food and beverage credit in the U.S.), bonus points and space-available room upgrades on each stay. You also get up to $250 in annual statement credits for airline incidental fees and up to $250 in annual credits at roughly 200 resorts in the Hilton Honors program. Enrollment is required in advance for some benefits.

Read our Hilton Honors Aspire review for additional details on the card.

Bottom line

Act now to take advantage of these welcome offers from the Hilton credit card lineup. The points haul could lead to some amazing Hilton redemptions, including luxury stays at resorts like the Conrad Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa or ski-friendly destinations like the Hilton DoubleTree in Highline Vail.

You’ll get a fifth night free on reward stays as a Hilton elite member — included with any Hilton Amex card.

Remember that Amex has a “one per lifetime” policy for earning welcome offers, but a pop-up window should let you know if you’re not eligible for a bonus before you submit your application. Thankfully, having one type of Hilton Amex card doesn’t prevent you from getting a different one as your needs change.
